What’s the difference between these occupations?

Therapist, Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Counselor
I need to see someone about depression, social anxiety, and a complete lack of self-esteem, all most likely stemming from abuse as a child. Medication is an option, but not the first thing I want to try.

I’m starting with a therapist. They’re licensed professionals that can help treat emotional, mental and personality disorders, but (as far as I understand) they have to refer you to a psychologist (or was it a psychiatrist?) to be medicated, which I found is a great way to keep that as a backup option.
not 100% sure but heres what i think in the same order.
therapist is someone that helps to solve problems ie. mental problems and phobias. phsyciatrist is someone that helps find the problem and find out how it originated. not sure what a clinical phsycologist is. counselor is sum1 u can talk to to discuss options and strategys of help and the like.
Therapist (LCSW, LMFT) and Clinical Psychologist is similiar: they provide individual and group therapy. The difference is a psychologist can conduct psychological testing (not used often). There are standardized tests that assist with diagnosing particular mental health disorders. These tests are not used often with adults but, some schools request the testing for children. Also, education difference. A clinical psychologist has a PHD in other words, they are a doctor but, can not prescribe medication. There are LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) that also have doctorates (same years in school as psychologists). A counselor typical has the least amount of experience and education. A psychiatrist is the only individual out of this group that can prescribe medications but, rarely provide therapy.
I recommend meeting with a therapist. The concerns you mentioned maybe resolved by therapy and medication may not be necessary.
